Messer Chups - Vamp Babes Upgrade Version 2004 (Solnze Records)

Revamped version of their sold-out 2000 release, with rerecorded tracks that also gain much from the added presence of Lydia Kavina's mastery of the theremin. This is one for the groovy ghouls, surfin' skeletons and lounge-lovin' werewolves out there. Also includes two great bonus videos for "Go, Satan, Go!" and "Super Megera".

(CD, cardboard sleeve, out of stock)

Messer Chups - Hyena Safari (Solnze Records)

The band's 8th album, released in late 2005. This time they're going at it with a slightly more instrumental approach, emphasizing the adrenaline-fueled spy-surf rock that is at the band's heart. Don't panic, the sounds effects and samples are still there. While I do personally miss Lydia Kavina's theremin, it is hard not to be swayed by the sexy stylings and great riffs of tracks such as "Hexe Chips" and "Charade?". As usual, the CD includes bonus videos whose 60's pulp horror esthetics perfectly match up with the music.

(CD, digipak, $19.00)

Messer Chups - Black Black Magic (Solnze Records)

Label info: "This Russian masterpiece twists you outta this world. Black Black Magic is Messer Chups most musical release. 50’s B-Movie soundtracks, the guitar at times reminiscent of Ricky King, Sci-Fi Horror ala Ed Wood, the erotique of Russ Meyer – all in perfect combination with Lydia Kavina’s (niece of Lev Termen, Theremin inventor) Theremin to mutate a sound so “retro”, that it sounds like the future.
The video for ‘Go Satan Go’ features Russian Playmate of the year Natalya Simakova, guaranteeing even more kitsch."

(CD, clear jewel case, $19.00)
