Haus Arafna - Blut (Galakthorrö)

Label info: "Beloved for its rugged charm and its extraordinary harshness, the first Haus Arafna album has been an industrial classic for some considerable time. Since 1995 the original limited edition could only be obtained at horrendous collectors' prices, and ran the risk like many other Galakthorrö presentations of falling foul of the Bootleggers (Help! The Russians are coming!) and now in 2006 it has finally been re-issued, digitally re-mastered with three brilliant extra bonus tracks. The new edition is rounded off visually by a 24 page booklet containing numerous black and white photoplates illustrating the bloody subject matter."

(CD, clear jewel case, $20.00)

Henrik Nordvargr Bjorkk - The Dead Never Sleep (Old Europa Cafe)

Subterranean black ambient from this prolific Swedish artist also responsible for Folkstorm, MZ.412 and Toroidh. Much more minimal than the recent release on Essence Music, with more emphasis on soothing low-end frequencies that massage their way into your ears.

(CD, thick cardboard sleeve, $17.00, last copy)

Hermann Kopp - Nekronology (Red Stream)

Label info: "Nekronology is a compilation of mournful musical selections from director Jorg Buttgereit's infamous films, Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2, and Der Todesking. The tracks contained on this release were performed by artist Hermann Kopp. The idea behind the music was to create a dreary atmosphere through a raw, ritualistic sound. You can hear Kopp's signature violin groans, and moog snythesizer during scenes such as the bathtub suicide, the rabbit being skinned alive, and the necrophila sequences. Co-released with underground splatter mag, Ultra Violent."

(CD, jewel case, to be restocked soon)

Hermann Kopp - Under A Demon's Mask (Galakthorrö)

Label info: "Everybody who has seen the Buttgereit films Nekromantik 1+2 and Todesking, has heard of Hermann Kopp. The music he wrote and performed for them is ever-present, pervading the atmosphere and has contributed considerably to the advancement of these films into classics. He still retains to this day his exceptional musical ability, and proves it yet again.
Galakthorrö is proud to be able to present 13 new songs from the nekrodramatist: more than 40 minutes of new material, which today – just as it did then – has as its core his dissonant-tempered and individualistic violin playing. Combined with electronics, a host of weird instruments and metal percussion he creates an unequaled gruesome opus, carried by an effectively conceived minimalism, and the most beautiful and haunting Angst melodies imaginable. So morbid and wonderful in fact, that we have to ask ourselves how we could manage to survive for so long without any new material from Hermann Kopp – and which demons were riding him that he had to keep us waiting so long."

Herz Jühning - Faces (Galakthorrö)

Label info: "Herz Jühning is a new Galakthorrö artist. He presents driving, straight ahead electronics predominately in an Angst Pop style. His tightly constructed arrangements consist of a combination of darkness, the required sadness, plus finally the aggression that fires off in the title track. All four songs will get directly under your skin and start your pulse racing!
From every standpoint a very respectable debut and we wait in suspense for the next episode."

Hilter - Sexfilms (Ars Benevola Mater)

With titles such as "Sushi Slut Sisters" and "Analdildo", you'd expect some sort of OTT power electronics, but "Sexfilms" is all about crude bass drones, cut-up VHS porn samples (complete with tape hiss) and occasional outbursts of noise.

Hinageshi Bondage - Pariisi Vuonna 1959 (Nihil Market)

Strange and often sparse experimental noise from Finland. Turntable sounds, high-end tones and rhythmic loops are used on the noisier tracks, while some interludes are provided in the shape of bass-heavy drones.

Hive Mind - Sand Beasts (PACrec)

A single 38 minute track of organic decaying ambience, the kind that brings to mind a midnight stroll in the woods. Recommended.

Hollowing & Maor Appelbaum - Collaborating Torture (Topheth Prophet / Heart & Crossbone)

One monolithic 54 min track of spectral ambience courtesy of Israeli musician Maor Appelbaum (Poochlatz, Vultures) and the late Matt Gibney (AKA Hollowing, So I Had To Shoot Him and owner of the Rectrix label). Those of you who picked up his collaboration with Chaos as Shelter which we released back in 2005 should definitely look into this.
