Haus Arafna - Blut (Galakthorrö)

Label info: "Beloved for its rugged charm and its extraordinary harshness, the first Haus Arafna album has been an industrial classic for some considerable time. Since 1995 the original limited edition could only be obtained at horrendous collectors' prices, and ran the risk like many other Galakthorrö presentations of falling foul of the Bootleggers (Help! The russians are coming!) and now in 2006 it has finally been re-issued, digitally re-mastered with three brilliant extra bonus tracks. The new edition is rounded off visually by a 24 page booklet containing numerous black and white photoplates illustrating the bloody subject matter."

Subliminal - Coping (Galakthorrö)

Second full-length album from Albert Fisch, just as cryptically spiteful as the first one, if not more. The label's signature analog electronics compact Subliminal's machine noise and aggressive vocals into a stark and focussed charge of pure hatred, the sort not heard of on Galakthorrö since Blut. Beautifully ugly.

(CD, clear jewel case, to be restocked soon)

Tapio Kotkavuori - Terra Hyperborea (Gemina Stella)

Label info: "Musically the artist himself describes Terra Hyperborea as "post-apocalyptic dark-ethno-ambient". Its semi-organic, semi-electric soundspheres are trance-inducing, almost hypnotic, varying from soft mood adjustments to more focused incantations and chants. Kotkavuori's main weapon of choice in this battle against silence is the didgeridoo, but tons of other instruments - such as vocals, rainsticks, shaman drums, coffee maker, synthesizers, kitchen knives etc. - have been used as well. All in all, these recordings create a shamanistic ambiance with a dark twist characteristic to the Left Hand Path. [...]"

Dvar - Jraah Mraah (Gravitator Records)

The mysterious creatures of Dvar are back with a whole new repertoire of otherworldly songs and playful little ditties. Thankfully not much has changed since the last time, and "Jraah Mraah" has the same hobgoblin-like vocals and impish melodies that make every one of their albums a fairy tale for the ears, keeping with the oral tradition that is essential to the genre. There's one key difference though: the tale is no longer being told from the point of view of an omniscient narrator in your language, but directly by the gnomes, trolls and pixies themselves in theirs. Wonderfully enchanting as always.

Cyclotimia - Celestis: Space Ceremonial Music (Gravitator Records)

Leaving aside their Wall Street portfolios and the corporate world for a second, Cyclotimia bring us an album of cosmic-themed IDM-ish ambient (not too far from Bad Sector's Kosmodrom) that is actually going to be sent to space soon. Here, read it for yourself: "Through an arrangement with U.S. aerospace company Space Services Inc. and its subsidiary Celestis Inc., a copy of this album will be incorporated into a payload that is scheduled for flight to space aboard a powerful rocket. Cyclotimia has been named the official musical group for Celestis' Legacy Flight."

Contagious Orgasm - The Flow of Sound Without Parameter (Ground Fault)

Label info: "Recordings of the sound of a town in Germany. The sound of a park being cleaned. Recordings at a zoo. A conversation in the kitchen. The scenic sounds on a balcony. These sounds were processed, and other sounds were added with ambient beats mixed in. This gives you The Flow of Sound Without Parameter."

Uthana-Eise - g.d.g.r. (Halbwelt)

Debut release from this obscure german death industrial / power electronics unit. Plodding machine rhythms, buzzing electronic tones and a rather subdued vocal approach. Somewhat close to some of the less sample-heavy Objekt/Urian tracks.

Dusk of Hope - Flexible Response (Hermetique)

Long-delayed CD album from this French ambient noise project whose previous material includes a tape released years ago on Slaughter and some compilation appearances, including tracks on our own "Like Music to Their Ears Vol 1".
The artwork and sound both depict images of decay, ruins and of places still haunted by the ghosts of past and nameless conflicts. Tense and brooding at time, serene at others, but always executed with a purpose. Released on Propergol's home label, Hermetique.

(CD in DVD case with 4 inserts, 13.00 €)
