Dusk of Hope - Flexible Response (Hermetique)

Long-delayed CD album from this French ambient noise project whose previous material includes a tape released years ago on Slaughter and some compilation appearances, including tracks on our own "Like Music to Their Ears Vol 1".
The artwork and sound both depict images of decay, ruins and of places still haunted by the ghosts of past and nameless conflicts. Tense and brooding at time, serene at others, but always executed with a purpose. Released on Propergol's home label, Hermetique.

(CD in DVD case with 4 inserts, $18.00)

Various Artists - Corporal Blossom Presents A Mutated Christmas (Illegal Art)

It might be slightly too late for Christmas right now, but this selection of tracks curated by Illegal Art resident Corporal Blossom is worth a listen during the rest of the year too. CB reassembles countless pilfered samples from classic Christmas songs into new material (the highlight being a memorable multi-artist rendition of "White Christmas") but also leaves room for contributions by other musicians such as DJ Olive, Grassy Knoll, Lovecraft Technologies, Mom and Daddy and Lustmord. Yes, Lustmord, who'll give you a chance here to experience a truceless Christmas in a warzone, complete with exploding mortar shells and gunfire.

Navicon Torture Technologies - Dripping with the Power of her Flesh (Immanence)

Label info: "A seminal work of unbridled brutality and passion, ::DWTPOHF:: picks up the tattered remains of emotion left by NTT's previous opus, The Church of Dead Girls, and forges them into an embittered concretion of the darkest byways of the heart, mind and soul."

Invisible Front - Interferences And Time (Indie-ziert)

Appropriately subtitled "Kampf auf allen Frequenzen", the debut release by this Berlin-based unit chooses the radio as its key subject matter and explores its impact as the first major mass communication tool of the 20th century. As expected, this translates into samples of number stations, historical radio speeches and general shortwave chatter providing a backdrop for overdriven synthetic tones and crackling (yet controlled) noise. The less agitated moments bring to mind SRP's "Schriever Rundflugzeug Projekt" and other Membrum Debile Propaganda releases, but overall this album is much more abrasive than initially hinted at. A struggle on all frequencies indeed.

Loss - A Letter That Will Never be Sent (Inner Demons)

Stunning debut release from this New York based project. Powerful, raging and emotional material that's a bastardized breed of the best elements of power electronics, death industrial and rhythmic noise. Mastered at Misanthrope Studios.

(3" CD-R in a red velveteen pouch with a 1" black button, out of stock)

Ond - S/T (Inner Gravity)

Debut release from this American dark ambient duo whose memorable CD-R release on Somnambulant Corpse ("For Influence Blooms Of The Subtle Wing") some of you might remember. On this album the sound is bass-heavy, melodic and mournful, with some minimal percussion pacing some of the tracks. While the two longest pieces slightly suffer from being stretched out for too long with too little, that shouldn't detract from what is an overall solid debut.

(CD, jewel case, $15.00)
