Le Vieux Thorax / Giscard le Survivant - self-titled (Ragondins Mondains)
Split release featuring 6 tracks from each project. Surf punk, TV jingles from the 70's, psychedelic electronics, cut-ups and collages are some of the ingredients in this genre-defying sampling fest. Think Mr Bungle meets Nurse With Wound in a bistro, and you're halfway there.

Cloverleaf - Self-titled (Rectrix)
Label info: "Cloverleaf's debut is a crushing and thorough ideal of suffering. Slowly churning forth bilious spew for all righteousness; a dark classical work worthy of concert hall attention. Predominant usage of guitar, piano, and samples for a flowing and ebbing manic depression."

The Hollowing / Marspiter - Habashira (Rectrix)
Split release with 4 tracks from the Hollowing and 3 from Marspiter. The former move from cavernous noise ambient to aggressive tribal pieces, while Marspiter sticks to a subterranean form of neoclassical with a restrained and buried sound suitable for the epic movies of yore. A nice combination that covers a fair amount of sonic ground.

Riz Ortolani - Cannibal Holocaust Original Soundtrack (Red Stream)
Much needed reedition of this soundtrack to Ruggero Deodato's brutal cinematic masterpiece from 1980. From the naively seductive theme track to the buzzing Moog pieces, everything is gathered here including the various disco, jazz and lounge-tinged tracks heard throughout the movie. There is a strong emotional aspect to this score, a disturbing sense of humanity that'll remind you of the perils of the Green Inferno.
Includes two bonus videos: the original movie trailer and a recent interview with Riz Ortolani.

Hermann Kopp - Nekronology (Red Stream)
Label info: "Nekronology is a compilation of mournful musical selections from director Jorg Buttgereit's infamous films, Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2, and Der Todesking. The tracks contained on this release were performed by artist Hermann Kopp. The idea behind the music was to create a dreary atmosphere through a raw, ritualistic sound. You can hear Kopp's signature violin groans, and moog snythesizer during scenes such as the bathtub suicide, the rabbit being skinned alive, and the necrophila sequences. Co-released with underground splatter mag, Ultra Violent."
(CD, jewel case, to be restocked soon)

Raccoo-oo-oon - Is Night People (Release the Bats)
Label info: "Swirling sax-and-effects-heavy free-form punk from Iowa City's Raccoo-oo-oon. Is Night People is their first magical recording, 7 organic rituals creating a majestic outlet of neverending energy. Beautiful cascades of manipulated vocals and layers of feedback melting together over sunny explosions of insane drumming. In the vein of Sun City Girls, Here Comes The Indian-era Animal Collective, Excepter etc."
