Pholde - In The Subset of All Elements (Taalem)
Label info: "Pholde is the ambient side of Canadian Alan Bloor that the noise maniacs will probably know under his other alias, Knurl.
Absolutely no noise here, just beautiful deep and scrapey metallic drones, sometimes even melodic, full of details... Those who loved the Lecanora 3" we released before (see alm 4) shouldn't miss this one, they won't be disappointed..."

Maurizio Bianchi - Bactérie (Taalem)
Label info: "the italian industrial legend, maurizio bianchi, is back. more prolific than ever, he proposes here a 24min track which should put the listener in a trance-like state... rather ambient & evolutive construction with venenous & penetrating sounds...
this microbic "bactérie", conceived and realized at the beginning of 2005, is profaning the rigid stoicism of our educational orthodromy, while a dichromatic decontamination accustoms the agoraphobic atomicity. the captious escape is vulcanizing the mutant manipulation of some articulated blastogenesis... another altruistic bacterial sickness?" maurizio bianchi / M.B."

Ninth Desert - Black Session (Taalem)
Label info: "Black session was created with two generations of sound material : sequences recorded between 1997 and 1999 by exotoendo (archived, never used or re-treated) and sources created between july and september 2005 by ninth desert.
This sound clash was organized on a principle of tape speed of the chosen sequences, their stretching in time or their dissection.
The confrontation of these extraneous sequences questions the time between the previously distant periods and, wthout filling it, suggests injecting a past sound material to the present. [...]
The ninth desert project was created in september 2005 by cyril herry (Exotoendo founding member 1996-1999 and Lecanora) and basically works on the sound perceived as mental and temporal medium - a material subjected to infinite combinations and potentially neverending transformation."

Klood - Negation (Taalem)
Label info: "Klood is a french one-man project sometimes compared to early Ultra Milkmaids (he contributed to their "Mort Aux Vaches" CD) or Maeror Tri. The tracks on his first 3" (after several releases on various labels such as Drone Records, Blade or EE-Tapes) shows two different sides of his apparently simple but highly evocative and emotional ambient music. First track is the bright one (who could even remind Angelo Badalementi's "Twin Peaks" soundtrack) while the second one is darker, slow and sinister..."

Yannick Dauby - Chant de Dune (Taalem)
Label info: "yannick dauby is a french composer, known for his collaborations with alio die ("descendre cinq voiles à l'ombre d'une voile" cdsingle on amplexus), mnortham (the "entrelacs" project) or thomas köner (the recent "zyklop" 2cd set on mille plateaux). this 3" is a re-release of a piece yannick dauby self-released in 1999, now accompanied by a new piece. deep concrete ambient music...
"sounding sands are found in many places in the whole world. this rare natural phenomenon, is represented most of the time by beaches, whose sand is squeaking when it is struck or pushed. however, in some deserts, we meet some large dunes which have a more astonishing activity. sand avalanches, mostly provocated by the wind, create very deep sounds, extremely powerful, accompanied by tremors and lasting for several minutes. unexplained, these singings from the desert are despicted like roarings, voices from surnatural beings or the rumbling of the thunder." Militia - Everything is One (Tactical Recordings)
2005 release from this eco-anarchist percussive unit, released 5 years after "The Black Flag Hoisted". This time round the tracks include an arsenal of instruments aside from the signature percussions, namely violins, accordeons, horns and clarinets played by guest musicians. These additions and the "full" production make for somewhat denser arrangements than what Militia is known for, but it's all good and brings to mind "Pax Britannica"-era Test Dept. Not to be missed.

False Mirror - North (Thonar Records)
Second full-length album from this German ambient project. Taking the Arctic as its environmental setting, "North" is a combination of field recordings from the North Atlantic ocean and wind storms, icy textures and deep polar pulses, not unlike Closing the Eternity's "Arctica" or Sleep Research Facility's "Deep Frieze". The suitably appropriate cover was painted by Sylvia Riester and was inspired by the fjords of Norway.

Dahlia's Tear - Under Seven Skies (Thonar Records)
Third album from this Sweden-based dark ambient act which has apparently taken a turn for more melodic compositions on this release. Somewhere between CMI-style neo-classical and ambient electronica.
