Moljebka Pulse / Horologium - Kaukasus (Beast of Prey)

Collaboration release between Moljebka Pulse and Horologium, inspired and devoted to the region where Europe and Asia meet and where ancestral grudges carry on to this day. Meditative drones and rumbling loops try to convey the majesty and richness of the region, but there are unfortunately no Azeri folk songs to be found here.

Monstrare / Wilt - Graveflowers (Angle Records)

Collaboration release bringing together two American dark ambient / isolationist projects. Imaginative and organic sonic compositions with subtle glitchy touches and a smattering of saturation here and there that will keep you on your toes.

Mux - The Second Confession (R.A.I.G.)

Another great discovery from the St Petersburg scene. Using analogue synthesizers, assorted instruments and digital processing, this duo churns out sludgy, rhythmic tracks with scraping sounds and rusty textures that wouldn't sound out of place on a Mental Destruction album. Add in some fragile melodic squalls and a strong sense of pacing, and you've got a release that definitely deserves attention.

N. - Memories From Before Being Born (Belligeranza)

Produced using nothing more than two empty tape-recorders connected to each other, this is the sound of nothingness, hollow frequencies and flat electroencephalograms. This album is presented over the course of 27 short tracks and fulfills its conceptual promise by straining raw, scum-drenched bass tones to oblivion.

Navicon Torture Technologies - Dripping with the Power of her Flesh (Immanence)

Label info: "A seminal work of unbridled brutality and passion, ::DWTPOHF:: picks up the tattered remains of emotion left by NTT's previous opus, The Church of Dead Girls, and forges them into an embittered concretion of the darkest byways of the heart, mind and soul."

Necromondo - Necromondo [mn030] (Mechanoise Labs)

53 minutes of maggot-infested sounds strongly inspired by Italian horror movies of the late 70's / early 80's. Oscillating synthesizer buzzes, intestinal bass rumbles, grunting, moaning and fields recordings from contaminated areas.

Necropolis - Necrosphere (Cold Spring)

Label info: "Hailing from the Siberian land of Irkutsk, Russia, Necropolis came to Cold Spring's attention when they released the extremely limited (85 only) CDR "Necrosphere" on Zhelezobeton - the soundtrack to the author's dreams and based on field recordings made in Taiga and disused military missile shafts. Cold Spring is reissuing this dark ambient creation remastered with brand new artwork and an extra 14-minute long track."

Nekyia - Purgatory As The Serpent Domain (Beast of Prey)

Second release from this Polish band, whose debut album came out on Fluttering Dragon. This one comes across as a darkwave / rhythmic industrial hybrid with some ambient elements and well performed vocals. Think Sanctum but minus the coarse screaming. Nicely done and boasts a well-designed 3-panel sleeve with two inserts.

(CD, A5 sleeve with inserts, $17.00, last copy)

Nekyia - Slowmotion Downhells (Beast of Prey)

Fourth Nekyia album, with 6 long tracks that add up to around 52 minutes. Mid-paced ritualistic rhythms and darkwave-style vocals put together over dark ambient backdrops, with a less electro sound than the previous full-length. The rhythms are much more subdued, giving more breathing room to the instruments and dark ambient undertones. This is the normal edition.

(CD, A5 folded envelope with inserts, $17.00)
