Shinjuku Thief - Sacred Fury (Fin de Siècle Media)

Label info: "Darrin Verhagen on his latest release re-embraces all the dramatic theatricality his Shinjuku Thief project is best known for.
Hovering midway between gothic orchestral horror and contemporary cinematic narrative, "Sacred Fury" presents us with a score from the midst of judgment. Reflective cinematic odes are strafed by brutal sound design, whilst elsewhere, bombastic homages to In Slaughter Natives pound out a march to the apocalypse in 31 beats.
This is the quintessential soundtrack for when all your best military plans turn to shit in your hands, and each new oncoming palletload of reason, ideology and faith seems more combustible than the last."

Shinjuku Thief - The Scribbler (Cold Spring)

Label info: "Reissue of the 1992 classic by this Australian genius, originally released in an edition of 500 copies. Occasional bursts of factory noise, industrial rumblings and disembodied German voices form the backdrop to a minimalist reworking of Kafka's "The Trial." An album of dense filmic atmospheres and orchestral instrumentation. 'The Scribbler' has been digitally remastered and is enhanced with a series of video clips constructed by Richard Grant (I+T=R), incorporating both new material together with the original images prepared for "The Scribbler" live show."

(CD, clear jewel case, 13.00 €)

Show of Exaggeration - Self-titled (Rectrix)

"A cosmic ambient passageway through aeons of spacetime. Ebbing tides of sonic conundrum, fading and waning military and ritual rhythms to convey a feeling of loss and eerie calm. A Synapscape/Centrozoon collaboration."

(CD in cardboard sleeve, 8.00 €, last copy)

Silence & Strength - Opus Paracelsum (Eastern Front)

Label info: "Second full-length esoteric dark ambient/alchemical experimental opus full of weird sounds composed by Silence & Strength. The album is inspired by life and works of Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, medieval Swiss physician, chemist, alchemist and one of the fathers of modern medicine who developed his own system of medicine and philosophy."

Silence & Strength - Le Divin Cagliostro (Eastern Front)

Neo-folk and ritualistic ambient from Israel inspired by the Grand Copht, the creator of the Egyptian Rite of Freemasonry. Reminiscent of a much more luminous version of Endura during the more ambient pieces, with the esoteric aspects of Freemasonry replacing Lovecraftian lore as the aesthetic foundation.

Sistrenatus - Division One (Cold Spring)

Label info: "Powerful debut of the Canadian noise project. 'Division One' is harsher and more bombastic than Harlow MacFarlane's now defunct project Funerary Call. A true onslaught of Black Ambient, Power Noise and Death Industrial. This is the much anticipated album, after the well received track on our Swarm sampler."

Skincage - Things Fall Apart (Spectre)

"Things Fall Apart" is the much awaited second CD by Jon Ray's Skincage, almost seven years after his highly impressive debut album, "Axon". Mainly created using an array of self-made and broken instruments, circuit-bent electronics and concrete sounds, the album does come across as much more somber than its predecessor, while thankfully letting that certain luminous touch still gleam through the haze. Along with Hollydrift and Brutum Fulmen, Skincage is part of those relatively rare craftsmen capable of truly bringing out the extraordinary from the mundane, of making objects "sing" if you will. A rewarding experience in isolationist sound.

SKM-ETR - The Rugged Meat Cleaver (Eibon Records / Stridulum)

Debut CD release from this Canadian project, firmly focussing on the ups and (mostly) downs of street trash. This translates into 9 tracks of spite-filled rants set over a background of blistering noise and faint melodic loops. One track features Slogun on vocals.

Skullflower - Orange Canyon Mind (Crucial Blast)

Label info: "The new full length from the legendary UK free/drone/psych outfit Skullflower, featuring some of the most searing, synapse scorching droneworks that Matthew Bower (the man behind Skullflower, as well as Sunroof!, Total, and The Hototogisu) has unleashed to date, in our humble opinion. Orange Canyon Mind is the follow up to 2002's awesome Exquisite Fucking Boredom (Tumult Records), and continues that albums utter mutation of stoned out riffs pulled taffy-like into eternity/oblivion and star-rupturing blasts of sonic white light. Over the 8 tracks/60 minute running time, Bower and cohorts build massive horizontal drones and melodic supernovas. Superb, beautiful, brain melting stuff."

(CD, clear jewel case, 11.00 €, last copy)
