New 2011 release from the duo of Alexander Lebedev-Frontov (Linija Mass, Stalnoy Pakt) and Nick Sudnick (ZGA). Gramophone industrial sound collages assembled in the spirit of early 20th century Italian Futurists. Vresnit - Tunvet (Vegvisir)
New album by the head of the Vetvei label, known for its solid roster of shamanistic ambient releases. The 36-min track presented here delves into the same nocturnal and wooded atmospheres explored in his collaborations with Kshatriy and Hladna, where every creak, rustle and echo in the mist conveys the primal forces of nature.

Vresnit & Kshatriy - TaeT (Vetvei)
One single 48 min piece of primordial ambient that merges field recordings, woodwinds, strings, bird songs, voices, tape noises and electronics into a shamanistic haze of ritual drone. Absolutely mandatory for listeners of Lunar Abyss Deus Organum and Halo Manash.

Wander - Wander (Small Voices)
Label info: "Wander are Freek Kinkelaar and Frans de Waard, also known as Beequeen. [...] In Wander they explore drone music in it's widest possible form, with each new release exploring a specific concept. [...]
The material was recorded [...] using a wide variety of vintage synthesizers (juno 60, korg MS20, roland SH 102 and Arp synthesizer) and a Philicordia organ. The four long pieces breath an atmospheric, pastoral sound of slow and deep evolving drones. [...]"

Womba - Evidence Of Letta (R.A.I.G.)
Industrial ambient collage from Tikhon S. Kubov, the person behind other RAIG-related projects such as Mux and Won James Won. Some of the material is a little reminiscent of the futurist audio constructions of Vetrophonia and Linija Mass, but Womba sets aside the mechanical fury and aesthetics of those projects for a lighter (and sometimes humorous) approach. Pleasantly comatose and confusing.
(CD, cardboard folder with 6-page booklet, $17.50)

Wreathy - Abaddon (Mile 329)
Second release from this Swedish project, showcasing low-resolution digital tunes with a great sense of melody and melancholy. The use of distortion is more sparse yet present enough to highlight certain parts. Civilization does not end in a flash of light, but in a long, drawn-out suicide.

Zoät·Aon - Star Autopsy (Aural Hypnox)
With a handful of releases, Aural Hypnox have established themselves as a source for high-quality innovative output in the saturated field of dark ambient, and these releases aren't shy when it comes to moving into new territories.
Zoät-Aon's debut release confirms this with a rich and dynamic sound that could be better described as field recordings on alien planets. Floating above the stratosphere at times, zooming in on the growling fauna roaming the surface at others, the 9 tracks here have an organic, living quality to them that warrants repeated listening sessions for amateur exobiologists of the mind.

Zoät·Aon - The Triplex Bestial (Aural Hypnox)
While tempted to reuse the press release, the Triplex Bestial is of such ferocious and arcane beauty that it deserves at the very least a write-up of its own. Zoät·Aon's first album brought out the cries of alien landscapes, but this one evokes an alchemy of earthly and cosmic origins, with familiar sounds punctuated by unnameable howls. The entire album radiates the primal energy of starlit rituals, ancestral forces and fear-stricken animals. It's going to be hard to out-do this.
