Caesar Romero - The Grotesque Burlesque Revue (Fin de Siècle Media)

This 3" gathers selections from the soundtrack to the Grotesque Burlesque Revue, a deviant theatre show by the Dragon Ladies performance art company. The full press release on Fin de Siècle Media's site should be read for a more in-depth summary of this piece's history, but even without that knowledge this collection of creepy sea-shanties, nursery rhymes and warped, fairy-tale carnival music can be enjoyed by anyone with a pronounced taste for the bizarre.

SRMeixner - The Dictatorship of The Viewer (Fin de Siècle Media)

SRMeixner is the new self-named solo project of Stephen Meixner, half of the now defunct Contrastate. This second full-length release under this name could be succinctly described as thoughtfully composed experimental music and the logical continuation from where Contrastate left off.
Written for the 2003 Venice Biennale, the 18 sub-sections presented here form one flowing piece which was initially composed and structured as a live performance. That, however, shouldn't stop you from imposing your own permutation on the tracklist as the title suggests, creating a new configuration that toys with the relationship between the way information is ordered and its resulting perception.

Franco Micalizzi - Adolescenza Perversa (Fin de Siècle Media)

Label info: "World premiere release of this fantastic soundtrack to the obscure erotic drama from 1974, starring Femi Benussi, Malisa Longo and Dagmar Lassander. Franco Micalizzi delivers a number of beautiful and catchy themes which can easily compete with Ennio Morricone's best moments, and together with Edda Dell'Orso's occasional wordless vocals it's a winning combination. Presented in a 4-page digipak with original artwork and liner notes by John Mansell."

Franco Micalizzi - Superuomini Superdonne Superbotte (Fin de Siècle Media)

Label info: "Franco Micalizzi was born in Rome 21 December 1939. After composing a few soundtracks in the end of the sixties, he gained success in 1970 with the music for "Lo chiamavano Trinita'..." (My Name Is Trinity). During the seventies, he became one of the most prolific composers of Italian film music, scoring cult classics like "Roma a mano armata" (Rome Armed to the Teeth), "Napoli violenta" (Violent Naples) and "Chi Sei?" (Beyond the Door)."
"The score for SUPERUOMINI SUPERDONNE SUPERBOTTE has never been released before in any form, making this CD the world premiere! The untitled cues have been carefully restored from the stereo master tapes, except the bonus tracks which could only be found on a mono source with inferior sound quality. Some of the shortest and most recurring themes have been merged together to further enhance the listening experience."

Ennio Morricone - Chi L'ha Vista Morire? (Fin de Siècle Media)

Label info: "One of Ennio Morricone's long overlooked masterworks, the collection of eerie, dissonant choral pieces and freaky takes on traditional Italian children's songs that is Chi l'ha vista morire? is as compelling on its own as it is fascinating in its interaction with the 1972 film. While at first celebrating a carefree childhood, then lamenting its helplessness and unavoidable loss, Ennio Morricone's brilliant pieces in the end move on to address darker areas of the human psyche, the hysterical chants of the choir imbuing an unnerving sense of schizophrenia in the listener. The hint of Catholic liturgy that characterizes the music is, naturally, just another poignant contribution to the mystery of Chi l'ha vista morire?, in which innocence and evil, desire and violence, all get mixed up. Restored from the original stereo master tapes and presented in 6-page digipak with original artwork, liner notes and film stills."

Contrastate - Handbags & Dada (Fin de Siècle Media)

Label info: "The now defunct influential UK project played only a few live shows during their existence, but they put a lot of effort into making them something out of the ordinary. The third installment in our Contrastate series is a live CD which covers three different phases in the band's history from 1989 to their last ever performance in 2000. Tracks previously available on vinyl and cassette as well as one world premiere recording from Camden Palace in London."

Giorgio Gaslini - Rivelazioni di un Maniaco Sessuale... (Fin de Siècle Media)

Label info: "Giorgio Gaslini is a highly trained and world renowned musician, a maestro of not only composition but also of jazz and contemporary classical music. He is most well-known to Euro-genre hounds for his co-scoring of Dario Argento’s monumental giallo PROFONDO ROSSO (DEEP RED), together with the progressive rock giants Goblin.

The score for RIVELAZIONI DI UN MANIACO SESSUALE AL CAPO DELLA SQUADRA MOBILE (REVELATIONS OF A SEX MANIAC, PENETRATION) is a known favorite among the cadre of international afficionados of Italian cult-cinema, and for good reason; this is a very skillful and satisfying work – which also features splendid vocal performances by the one and only Edda Dell’Orso. Supporting the effect of the killer’s anthem is a series of dissonant suspense cues and each of these contribute to the underlying psychological stress inherent to the narrative. Counterbalancing the score’s darker portions are a series of lighter excursions into the realms of lounge and easy instrumentals - truly inspired music for a maniac!

Culled from the vaults of Cinevox and carefully restored by Claudio Fuiano, this CD premiere release does not only present the LP tracks in full stereo – as much as 17 unreleased tracks have been saved from obscurity. Presented in a 6-page digipak with original artwork and extensive liner notes by John Bender, Fin de Siècle Media are proud to give another underrated composer the attention he most certainly deserves."

Luciano Michelini - L'Isola Degli Uomini Pesce (Fin de Siècle Media)

Label info: "Luciano Michelini's action packed score for this Italian sci-fi adventure directed by Sergio Martino. It is a fusion of styles, which include highly dramatic material, romantically laced cues and pieces which by their sound and construction are obviously from the school of Italian film music. Previously released on LP by the prestigious label Cometa and now restored and presented for the first time ever on CD in a 6-page digipak with original artwork, film stills and liner notes by John Mansell!"
