Fuer Mur

Dronaement - Fuer Mur (Taalem)

Label info: "Dronæment should need no introduction as he has now gained a strong reputation in the ambient world thanks to some releases on various labels like Drone Records, Dachstuhl (Tarkatak's home), Afe or Mystery Sea (yes, again !). Marcus presents here two melancholic and nostalgic tracks, the first with softer sounds, based on the wonderful "Für Alina" by Arvo Pärt, the second (an older piece found on a long-lost tape) with some more aggressive sounds, full of analog synths. Two sides of Dronæment's beautiful music…"

La Neuvième Heure

Désaccord Majeur - La Neuvième Heure (Taalem)

Label info: "[...] Just like Internal Fusion, Désaccord Majeur creates long haunting ambient tracks with of course an ethnic and ritual touch... Less dark maybe, his music sometimes includes some more electronic sounds that could remind some em:t releases (Woob especially). Pure clear ritual ethno-ambient music."

La Couleur Odorante

[mp3 ] [ mp3 ] [ mp3 ]

Désaccord Majeur - La Couleur Odorante (Kokeshidisk)

Label info: "Reissue of the tape released in 1998 on our previous label Harmonie, "la couleur odorante" gathers eight tracks previously released on various international compilations from 1990 to 1995, showing the evolution of Désaccord Majeur music & sounds with more and more ethnic influences while keeping a melodic and evolutive structure.
This reissue includes two previously unreleased tracks from 1989 (one of the first Désaccord Majeur tracks, very ambient) and 1993 (more in the ethno-ambient sounds he's known for)."

(printed CD-R, full color printed A5-sized cardboard cover, $16.00, last copy)

Havens

Encomiast - Havens (Crucial Bliss)

Label info: "This disc contains three exquisite new driftworks from ENCOMIAST, entitled Havens. Formed from vaporous clouds of guitar, gamelan, shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), violin, vina, voice, flute, and field recordings, Ross Hagen and Megan Garland have stretched these sounds into infinite ribbons of metallic shimmer, twisting and swirling into gorgeous hum. The three tracks on this disc are extended works that range from eleven to twenty-five minutes in length, and drifts within the angelic regions between Andrew Chalk's minimalist explorations, the dream music of Troum (and their predecessor, Maeror Tri), and the bleary melodic smear of My Bloody Valentine. Havens distills the bliss of deep dreams and early morning haze into captured hymns, and is one of ENCOMIAST's finest drone offerings to date."

Gma

[mp3 ] [ mp3 ] [ mp3 ]

Erthad - Gma (Zhelezobeton)

Active since the late 90's but without any official releases until now, Erthad's first output on physical format is the sort of obscure discovery from the Russian scene that makes Zhelezobeton a reliable source for new releases that go beyond what's already established or tamed by familiarity. Recorded in 2002 using processed voices and software synthesizers, "Gma" compiles 6 tracks of serene yet expansive robotic meditations, at times approaching some form of mantras for nano-technological organisms. Soothing but not ambient in nature, the closest comparison I can think of would be another Zhelezobeton act (Degeneral) crossed over with Sshe Retina Stimulants, but that's still not close enough to what can be found here.

Helios

Freeze Etch - Helios (Immanence)

Debut EP from this new artist signed to Immanence Records, featuring 6 tracks and a remix by Detritus. Freeze Etch combines lightly filtered and dynamic rhythms and melodic sweeps a la Gridlock.

(CD-R in plastic sleeve, to be restocked soon)

Dead Lights Red Sky

Fulci - Dead Lights Red Sky (Crucial Bliss)

Label info: "The first recorded offering from twilight-psyche dronerock duo FULCI. Deep, rumbling, and eternal speaker-buzz worship, wrapped around lumbering riffs drunk on cough syrup and shimmering distortion overload. Howling feedback mantras repeated ad infinitum. Major key rustic lullabies are reduced to primal string scraping drones that climb over mountains of echoing hum. Intensely melodic and repetitious, like SKULLFLOWER covering EARTH's 2 in an old, empty farmhouse. FULCI is Eric Crowe (formerly of Social Infestation, currently of Marax) and Adam Wright. [...]"

Dno

Funkstillesender / Komatöserzustand - Dno (Beta-Sendung)

Comatose ambient made from layers of radio noise and static by these two obscure Russian projects. The presentation is cheap (don't expect anything beyond a photocopied sheet and a white CD-R in a slim case), but it somehow fits the rough lo-fi nature of the sounds to be found here.

Nightmares

Goreghast - Nightmares (Beast of Prey)

Debut release from Goreghast, a dark ambient project from Poland by the person also responsible for Paranoia Inducta. The sound is somewhat reminiscent of a more electronic and rough version of some Cold Meat Industry material (Desiderii Marginis and Atrium Carceci do come to mind), with chorals, reversed voices, metallic clangs and all.

(pro-printed CD-R in a three-paneled cardboard sleeve + mesh-like slipcase, out of stock)

Impregnable Storm

Government Alpha - Impregnable Storm (New Nihilism)

Vicious harsh noise from Yasutoshi Yoshida, AKA Government Alpha and also head of the Xerxes label which has hosted many unusual noise and bizarro-pop experiments (Billboard Head Soup, Unacknowledged Pop-Song Collection Vol. 666). Suitably disorientating.

(pro-printed CD-R in folded poster sleeve, $9.00, last copy)
