Bardoseneticcube - Tek-Now II (Puzzle God)
For this release, Bardoseneticcube leaves aside the industrial drones for energetic technoïd pieces and strange sampler-heavy rhythms. Includes a couple of genuine "what the hell is this?" moments. Few copies left.
(CD-R, clear jewel case, out of stock)

Le Vieux Thorax / Giscard le Survivant - self-titled (Ragondins Mondains)
Split release featuring 6 tracks from each project. Surf punk, TV jingles from the 70's, psychedelic electronics, cut-ups and collages are some of the ingredients in this genre-defying sampling fest. Think Mr Bungle meets Nurse With Wound in a bistro, and you're halfway there.

Cloverleaf - Self-titled (Rectrix)
Label info: "Cloverleaf's debut is a crushing and thorough ideal of suffering. Slowly churning forth bilious spew for all righteousness; a dark classical work worthy of concert hall attention. Predominant usage of guitar, piano, and samples for a flowing and ebbing manic depression."
(CD-R, $5.00, on sale)

The Haters - Voice of Victory (Self Abuse)
Label info: "Recorded in 1997 at the Longhorn Speedway in Austin, Texas by playing various sounds over the racetracks PA system. The result is one of the Haters' noisiest releases ever. The CD-R is limited to 200 copies, and comes packaged inside a cardboard box, alongside a bumper sticker, crashed car, and air freshener."

Mattias Frisk - En Dag I Väntan På Livet (Self-released)
Mattias Frisk is a graphic artist whose collaboration with fellow Swedes Altar of Flies and Gjalp was released not too long ago on Nil By Mouth. This 29-min debut solo release is a wonderfully strange collage of sputtering noise, acoustic pop music and bird songs. Overall, this is an imaginative piece of work that definitely warrants keeping an eye out his future releases. The presentation is equally unusual, as the CD-R comes inside a sealed envelope addressed to Mattias Frisk with a hand-written letter in Swedish and a color insert.

Mattias Frisk - Ett Liv I Väntan På Döden (Self-released)
Second part of what is announced as a trilogy of releases by Swedish artist Mattias Frisk, whose eerie and colorful paintings and collages are just as attention-worthy as his musical output.
Exploring the themes of "time, death and apathy", this second chapter shifts to slower and more dispiriting sounds, with gloomy piano melodies and ghostly drones pierced by brittle noise shards. Solemn and somber like it should be, this definitely comes highly recommended. Packaged like the first volume in an envelope with a hand-written letter in Swedish.
(CD-R in envelope, $8.00)

Belialist - Self-titled (Silken Tofu)
Label info: "Belialist combines the lo-fi death worship of Sewer Goddess and the throbbing sterile abuse of Brutophilia. This release was not born from aggression, but from pure pessimism and squalor. An ugly manifestation of bleak death-industrial and dark, textural ambient."

Macelleria Mobile Di Mezzanotte / Profile - La Dalia Nera (Sin Organisation)
Split release by Italian martini-guzzlers Profile and M.M.M., whose recent albums on Old Europa Cafe are definitely worth seeking out. Dedicated to James Ellroy's "The Black Dahlia", this release is a great mix of loungy crime jazz / film noir soundtracks with modern dark ambient sensibilities, conjuring up images of dames in nylon stockings flirting with shady PI's in smoke-filled cocktail bars. Fun stuff as always.

Chaos as Shelter - Live in New Jerusalem (Solipsism / Self Abuse)
Label info: "Two live tracks of beautiful dark ambient sounds from Israel. Over an hours worth of music, the first track was recorded in December of 2000 at New Jerusalem Studios, the Second is from August of 2000, and was recorded live at the Abama Theatre, in Jerusalem. Mixing drifting, dark ambient electronics with subtle rhythms and ethnic sounds, Chaos as Shelter are one of the more interesting new projects from the last couple of years, and his live work adds another layer to his already complex sound. Haunting, and meditative, this is music that evokes a world of it's own."
