Forma4 - Cycle (DTA Records)
2002 release on the now defunct DTA Records label. Forma4 is Vladimir Dronov, and "Cycle" combines uneasy atmospheres, drowsy drones and subtle rhythm programming to create something not too dissimilar from some early Reutoff material.

Freeze Etch - Helios (Immanence)
Debut EP from this new artist signed to Immanence Records, featuring 6 tracks and a remix by Detritus. Freeze Etch combines lightly filtered and dynamic rhythms and melodic sweeps a la Gridlock.

Grundik and Slava - Frogs (Topheth Prophet / Auris Media)
The second part of the "Fauna" series by this project, the first of which was released by Stateart. Thematically and sonically centered around frogs and their environment, this release results from a collaboration with singer Victoria Hanna and also features contributions from Israeli artists Vadim Gusis (Chaos as Shelter) and Igor Krutogolov (Igor18). The album is a pleasant, new-age tinged stroll through the world of our croaking fellows. Co-released with Auris Media.
(CD, clear jewel-case, $8.00, on sale)

Gruntsplatter - Pest Maiden (PACrec)
Slow, grim and black-as-coal atmospheric ambient that takes you back to the years of the plague. Originally released as a now sold-out 7" and a cassette on Troniks, and remastered here by the ever-reliable Thomas Garrison (Control).
(CD, cardboard sleeve, $8.00, on sale, last copy)

Hilter - Sexfilms (Ars Benevola Mater)
With titles such as "Sushi Slut Sisters" and "Analdildo", you'd expect some sort of OTT power electronics, but "Sexfilms" is all about crude bass drones, cut-up VHS porn samples (complete with tape hiss) and occasional outbursts of noise.
(CD, oversized cardboard sleeve, $10.00, on sale)

Hinageshi Bondage - Pariisi Vuonna 1959 (Nihil Market)
Strange and often sparse experimental noise from Finland. Turntable sounds, high-end tones and rhythmic loops are used on the noisier tracks, while some interludes are provided in the shape of bass-heavy drones.
(CD-R, pro-printed cover, $8.00, on sale)

Insphera - Shape (Beast of Prey)
Debut release from this Polish project. Droning loop-based dark ambient with mechanical overtones, like lullabies for exhausted machines.

Iovae - Civilization (SNSE)
Sputtering, dense oscillator tones courtesy of Cincinnati-based Iovae (Ron Orovitz). 5 strangely catchy tracks of stressed, groaning buzzes and shifting high end fuzz. Pretty close to what a noisier, lo-fi COH would sound like in some regards, and definitely a nice discovery.
(CD, clear jewel case, textured sleeve paper, out of stock)
