Still - Remains (Public Guilt)

Dark ambient by Dälek's former turntablist (Hsi-Chang Lin), made exclusively with his Technics 1200's and an array of effects pedals. If Magwheels traded in his guitar for turntables, you'd get something not too dissimilar from the sort of melancholic swelling drones here.

(CD, jewel case in silk-screened slipcase, 8.00 €)

Tapio Kotkavuori - Terra Hyperborea (Gemina Stella)

Label info: "Musically the artist himself describes Terra Hyperborea as "post-apocalyptic dark-ethno-ambient". Its semi-organic, semi-electric soundspheres are trance-inducing, almost hypnotic, varying from soft mood adjustments to more focused incantations and chants. Kotkavuori's main weapon of choice in this battle against silence is the didgeridoo, but tons of other instruments - such as vocals, rainsticks, shaman drums, coffee maker, synthesizers, kitchen knives etc. - have been used as well. All in all, these recordings create a shamanistic ambiance with a dark twist characteristic to the Left Hand Path. [...]"

The Cherry Point - Black Witchery (PACrec)

Label info: "In 2004, The Cherry Point completed a trilogy of limited edition 3" cdrs, released on Chondritic Sound, Fargone Records, and Audiobot. Now collected and remastered, the dark spell has been cast as Black Witchery, a murky potion of macabre frequencies, derelict moans, satanic power and the hideous stench of occult slaughter.
A black mass ritual for fans of Evilspeak, The Gate, Satan's Black Wedding, Ghoulies 2 (the one set at a carnival), The Tempter, Paura Nella Cittā dei Morti Viventi, The Legend of Hell House, and John Cassavetes in Incubus (1982) + Rosemary's Baby (1968)."

Various Artists - Your Daily Buzz (Tripmeke)

Noise, noise and more noise. 9 tracks compiled by Sweden's Tripmeke Records. Established noisicians Lasse Marhaug and K2 each contribute lengthy outbursts of controlled chaos, while the remaining pieces (varying from water-soaked field recordings to semi-ambiant interludes) are provided by MSBR and Cartesian Faith. A lot more varied and structured than this description suggests.
