Still - Remains (Public Guilt)
Dark ambient by Dälek's former turntablist (Hsi-Chang Lin), made exclusively with his Technics 1200's and an array of effects pedals. If Magwheels traded in his guitar for turntables, you'd get something not too dissimilar from the sort of melancholic swelling drones here.

Teho Teardo - Tower / Microphone (Final Muzik)
This album was recorded using an elaborate set-up of 24 contact microphones placed over various parts of the ancient "Ospedale dei Battuti" tower in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy.
The 24 microphones were then plugged into a PA system and processed by manipulating the volume faders and several analog filters. A guitar, a Fender Rhodes piano and some electronic effects are also thrown in the mix, for an end result that is a lush tapestry of deep drones and delicate field recordings, with a melodic touch resulting from the use of these additional instruments.
This piece was commissioned in 2005 by the contemporary Art Festival Hic et Nunc.

The Hollowing / Marspiter - Habashira (Rectrix)
Split release with 4 tracks from the Hollowing and 3 from Marspiter. The former move from cavernous noise ambient to aggressive tribal pieces, while Marspiter sticks to a subterranean form of neoclassical with a restrained and buried sound suitable for the epic movies of yore. A nice combination that covers a fair amount of sonic ground.

Including a vast amount of tracks from an even wider variety of genres, the NRP disc nevertheless pulls off the minor miracle of compiling these contributions into a coherent collection of fine tunes. Various Artists - Your Daily Buzz (Tripmeke)
Noise, noise and more noise. 9 tracks compiled by Sweden's Tripmeke Records. Established noisicians Lasse Marhaug and K2 each contribute lengthy outbursts of controlled chaos, while the remaining pieces (varying from water-soaked field recordings to semi-ambient interludes) are provided by MSBR and Cartesian Faith. A lot more varied and structured than this description suggests.
