ML - Everyone Looks like Somebody else (n5md)

Choppy beats, bittersweet melodies and twitchy sample work make this one a nice cross of IDM and almost video-game music. Similar to Twine, Spark and assorted bleep-makers.

(CD, clear jewel-case, $12.00, last copy)

Naked Intruder - Iteration III (Mile 329)

The much-delayed third full-length release from Naked Intruder is finally out, and it delivers the goods. And what goods indeed: 8-bit melodies, metal percussions and atonal piano and organ passages fuse into an album of industrial circus music meets 1980s action movie soundtrack. Challenging and rewarding at the same time, this iteration is not a mere repetition but a reaffirmation of a world where creepy clowns, armored bank robbers and cubic insects evolve. The Yars will have their revenge.

(CD-R in plastic case, $13.00)

Naked Intruder - The Last Vestige (Mile 329)

Last part of the Prime Directives 3" trilogy, each of which is dedicated to a specific sonic format of yesteryears. Four anthems of 5-channel goodness all recorded with the Nintendo Entertainment System's 2A03 sound chip. Limited quantities.

(3" CD-R packaged inside a NES cartridge, $13.00)

Neutralizing Force - Fusion (Mile 329)

First full-length release from Neutralizing Force, whose arsenal includes metal percussion and finely crafted melodic content. As the original description aptly said: "this is appropriate for fans of Marty Simon, Brad Fiedel, Chu Ishikawa, and the NES 2A03, although it exhibits a far broader appeal."

Spark - The Robotic Girl Next Door (n5md)

Cute little release with crisp 8-bit melodies and bit-quantized drum patterns. Arguably not the most original recipe out there, but nicely done with enough hooks to keep you tuned in.

Stunning compilation featuring tracks from Naked Intruder, Neutralizing Force, Dissecting Table, Der Eisenrost, CHC System, Tarmvred, Stelladrine, LLDF and many more. A great introduction to the Mile 329 family and related friends with small faces. We will rust the world.

Wreathy - Abaddon (Mile 329)

Second release from this Swedish project, showcasing low-resolution digital tunes with a great sense of melody and melancholy. The use of distortion is more sparse yet present enough to highlight certain parts. Civilization does not end in a flash of light, but in a long, drawn-out suicide.
