Matt Howden - Voyager (Ars Benevola Mater)
Label info: "Twenty-one neo-classical tracks that follow the progress of the Voyager space probe from Jupiter, past Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and out to The Heliopause, the outermost reaches of the Sun’s rays. As the album progresses out through the Solar System, the time signatures, keys, and conventional sounds and phrases mutate - the music becomes wilder and manipulations of conventional sounds, and time elements become more pronounced. The last track, The Heliopause, brings together all the elements of the album in a seventeen minute finale, capturing the relentless journey of Voyager heading out of our Solar System."

Maurizio Bianchi - Bactérie (Taalem)
Label info: "the Italian industrial legend, Maurizio Bianchi, is back. More prolific than ever, he proposes here a 24min track which should put the listener in a trance-like state... Rather ambient and evolutive construction with venomous and penetrating sounds.[...]"

Moljebka Pulse - Sadalsuud (Some Place Else)
Label info: "Mathias Josefson is a sound-artist from Stockholm, Sweden, and currently attending the royal university college of fine arts. His main project is Moljebka Pvlse, which is an experimental music group that works with both electronic and acoustic instruments, as well as with field recordings and found sounds. What comes out is hypnotic and meditative soundscapes.[...]
The name Sadalsuud refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is vaguely reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. [...]"

Opium - Sympathetic Flying Objects (Silentes)
Opium is active in the ambient field with various projects and collaborations with Alio Die, Francesco Paladino and Antonio Testa, and Silentes presents here his debut release under this moniker. The six tracks of this album rely mostly on soothing synth washes enriched with discreet field recordings and various noises, occasionally layering some rhythmical elements into the background. While there's inevitably some level of déjà-vu, the overall quality of the recording warrants it attention from ambient listeners.

Ovum - S/T (Suggestion Records)
Crackling electric ambient noise from this cult Swedish project. The third track is a strange cover of "I wanna be your Dog".

Rrupt - Traverser (Egone)
Stunning ethno-industrial from this obscure and sadly overlooked French project. Inspired by Lionel Tran's novel "Traverser du Désert" and involving a number of other artistic contributions such as the calligraphy of Thomas Foucher and the photography of Jean-Marie Arnouil, "Traverser" is a beautifully presented journey across a scorched desert where daytime mirages cede only to the night's icy winds.

Silence & Strength - Le Divin Cagliostro (Eastern Front)
Neo-folk and ritualistic ambient from Israel inspired by the Grand Copht, the creator of the Egyptian Rite of Freemasonry. Reminiscent of a much more luminous version of Endura during the more ambient pieces, with the esoteric aspects of Freemasonry replacing Lovecraftian lore as the aesthetic foundation.

Teho Teardo - Tower / Microphone (Final Muzik)
This album was recorded using an elaborate set-up of 24 contact microphones placed over various parts of the ancient "Ospedale dei Battuti" tower in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy.
The 24 microphones were then plugged into a PA system and processed by manipulating the volume faders and several analog filters. A guitar, a Fender Rhodes piano and some electronic effects are also thrown in the mix, for an end result that is a lush tapestry of deep drones and delicate field recordings, with a melodic touch resulting from the use of these additional instruments.
This piece was commissioned in 2005 by the contemporary Art Festival Hic et Nunc.
