Cyclotimia - Sci-Fi Music (Zhelezobeton)
Label info: "As the title suggests, the new work by Russian masters of electronic soundscapes represents a score to an imaginary sci-fi movie. The musicians call themselves admirers of old-school Sci-Fi / Cyberpunk genres, and for a long time they have felt a desire to make some music inspired by soundtracks of sci-fi blockbusters from 70-80s... Spaceship battles, alien colonies, teleportation and mysterious droid ceremonies are only part of the images created by this music. The album contains both dynamic rhythmic "hits" and disturbing space ambient as well as avant-garde neoclassic pieces."
(CD, jewel case, to be restocked soon)
Dahlia's Tear - Under Seven Skies (Thonar Records)
Third album from this Sweden-based dark ambient act which has apparently taken a turn for more melodic compositions on this release. Somewhere between CMI-style neo-classical and ambient electronica.

Dronaement - Fuer Mur (Taalem)
Label info: "Dronæment should need no introduction as he has now gained a strong reputation in the ambient world thanks to some releases on various labels like Drone Records, Dachstuhl (Tarkatak's home), Afe or Mystery Sea (yes, again !). Marcus presents here two melancholic and nostalgic tracks, the first with softer sounds, based on the wonderful "Für Alina" by Arvo Pärt, the second (an older piece found on a long-lost tape) with some more aggressive sounds, full of analog synths. Two sides of Dronæment's beautiful music…"

Désaccord Majeur - La Neuvième Heure (Taalem)
Label info: "[...] Just like Internal Fusion, Désaccord Majeur creates long haunting ambient tracks with of course an ethnic and ritual touch... Less dark maybe, his music sometimes includes some more electronic sounds that could remind some em:t releases (Woob especially). Pure clear ritual ethno-ambient music."

Encomiast - Havens (Crucial Bliss)
Label info: "This disc contains three exquisite new driftworks from ENCOMIAST, entitled Havens. Formed from vaporous clouds of guitar, gamelan, shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), violin, vina, voice, flute, and field recordings, Ross Hagen and Megan Garland have stretched these sounds into infinite ribbons of metallic shimmer, twisting and swirling into gorgeous hum. The three tracks on this disc are extended works that range from eleven to twenty-five minutes in length, and drifts within the angelic regions between Andrew Chalk's minimalist explorations, the dream music of Troum (and their predecessor, Maeror Tri), and the bleary melodic smear of My Bloody Valentine. Havens distills the bliss of deep dreams and early morning haze into captured hymns, and is one of ENCOMIAST's finest drone offerings to date."

Erik Ursich - Kanashii - Il Piacere Della Tristezza (Punch Records)
A debut release that is sure to please those into cold minimal electronics with a melancholic touch. The LP relies heavily on vintage synthesizers, giving the whole thing a certain retro 70's synth record quality.

Erthad - Gma (Zhelezobeton)
Active since the late 90's but without any official releases until now, Erthad's first output on physical format is the sort of obscure discovery from the Russian scene that makes Zhelezobeton a reliable source for new releases that go beyond what's already established or tamed by familiarity. Recorded in 2002 using processed voices and software synthesizers, "Gma" compiles 6 tracks of serene yet expansive robotic meditations, at times approaching some form of mantras for nano-technological organisms. Soothing but not ambient in nature, the closest comparison I can think of would be another Zhelezobeton act (Degeneral) crossed over with Sshe Retina Stimulants, but that's still not close enough to what can be found here.

First Human Ferro - Homo Shargey (Triangle Records / New Nihilism)
In the continuation of the "Energia" compilation which he curated, Olegh Kolyada (First Human Ferro, Oda Relicta) continues his thematic tributes to these forgotten pioneers of astronautics with this new album inspired by Alexander Shargey (more commonly known by his pseudonym Yuri Kondratyuk), an early proponent and researcher of lunar travel who circumstance tried to deny to what history had fated for him. This homage is a suitably contemplative and melancholic affair composed with electronic organs, lush synthetic pads and reverberated drones, with the final touch provided by a mastering courtesy of Vestigial.

Grundik and Slava - Frogs (Topheth Prophet / Auris Media)
The second part of the "Fauna" series by this project, the first of which was released by Stateart. Thematically and sonically centered around frogs and their environment, this release results from a collaboration with singer Victoria Hanna and also features contributions from Israeli artists Vadim Gusis (Chaos as Shelter) and Igor Krutogolov (Igor18). The album is a pleasant, new-age tinged stroll through the world of our croaking fellows. Co-released with Auris Media.

Hypnoz - Breath of Earth (Zhelezobeton)
2nd full-length CD from this project that dwells in the same Moscow suburb of Fryazino which brought you Hum and Staruha Mha. With help from Evgeny Voronovsky of Cisfinitum and an arsenal of vintage Russian analogue synthesizers, Dmitry Zubov creates the sort of hazy, ethereal atmospheres propelled by cyclical rhythms that wouldn't be out of place next to some Tangerine Dream tracks or the earlier and more sedated Deutsch Nepal pieces. Mellow yet compelling ambient that soothes the mind.
