Cloama - Cloama (New Old Sentinel)
High-end abstract industrial ambient with some occasional melodic touches. This album has a strong haunting characteristic to it, as if these were plaintive cries emanating from corroded machines that should no longer be able to produce them. The extremely lush sound production deserves a mention as well, giving the record an oxygenated, organic feel that is rare for the genre.

Cloama & Blutleuchte - From Wasteland Mausoleums (New Old Sentinel)
Stunning collaboration release between those two Finnish projects. Cloama's lurch towards more experimental sounds from its power electronics / noise beginnings is further emphasized by Die Blutleuchte's contributions, and this release effortlessly shifts from post-apocalyptic mantras to doom jazz dirges, with distorted guitar melodies and bleak atmospheres thrown in between. Scrapyard shamanism at its best. On a side-note, be sure to also look into Die Blutleuchte's "Rus", a sonic overview of Russian military history.

Cloverleaf - Self-titled (Rectrix)
Label info: "Cloverleaf's debut is a crushing and thorough ideal of suffering. Slowly churning forth bilious spew for all righteousness; a dark classical work worthy of concert hall attention. Predominant usage of guitar, piano, and samples for a flowing and ebbing manic depression."

Conversations About The Light - A Retrospective (Ominous Recordings)
A compilation of rare and previously unreleased tracks from this American project, with some past releases on Audio Savant and Cipher Productions and a collaboration with A Crown of Amaranth out on Eibon (as A Crown of Light). This collection of bleak drones colliding with harsh noise outbursts makes for some rather "uneasy easy listening" as the label puts it, and it's definitely worth hearing if you'd like to check out this overlooked artist. Limited to 150 copies.

Deuterror - Le Gueule de Guerre (Steelwork Maschine)
Label info: "After two net-releases titled "Agrippen" and "Cortharis Lex", which are still available for download on his website, Deuterror offers us his new work and his first release on CD, "Le Gueule De Guerre". A fable on the faith that animates man and keeps him standing, going beyond the limits of minimalist dark ambient or the violence of extravagant noise. Deuterror develops his theme with drones in turn overwhelming and disturbing, vindictive frequencies, making "Le Gueule De Guerre" a severe statement embittered with disillusionment."

Dusk of Hope - Flexible Response (Hermetique)
Long-delayed CD album from this French ambient noise project whose previous material includes a tape released years ago on Slaughter and some compilation appearances, including tracks on our own "Like Music to Their Ears Vol 1".
The artwork and sound both depict images of decay, ruins and of places still haunted by the ghosts of past and nameless conflicts. Tense and brooding at time, serene at others, but always executed with a purpose. Released on Propergol's home label, Hermetique.

Endura - Black Eden (Red Stream)
Re-release of their 1995 album. Occult summonings and ritual processions for an inverted Eden. From mournful black ambient to more bombastic declamations of heresy.

False Mirror - North (Thonar Records)
Second full-length album from this German ambient project. Taking the Arctic as its environmental setting, "North" is a combination of field recordings from the North Atlantic ocean and wind storms, icy textures and deep polar pulses, not unlike Closing the Eternity's "Arctica" or Sleep Research Facility's "Deep Frieze". The suitably appropriate cover was painted by Sylvia Riester and was inspired by the fjords of Norway.

Goreghast - Nightmares (Beast of Prey)
Debut release from Goreghast, a dark ambient project from Poland by the person also responsible for Paranoia Inducta. The sound is somewhat reminiscent of a more electronic and rough version of some Cold Meat Industry material (Desiderii Marginis and Atrium Carceci do come to mind), with chorals, reversed voices, metallic clangs and all.
(pro-printed CD-R in a three-paneled cardboard sleeve + mesh-like slipcase, out of stock)
