Moljebka Pulse - Sadalsuud (Some Place Else)

Label info: "Mathias Josefson is a sound-artist from Stockholm, Sweden, and currently attending the royal university college of fine arts. His main project is Moljebka Pvlse, which is an experimental music group that works with both electronic and acoustic instruments, as well as with field recordings and found sounds. What comes out is hypnotic and meditative soundscapes.[...]
The name Sadalsuud refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is vaguely reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. [...]"

Moljebka Pulse / Horologium - Kaukasus (Beast of Prey)

Collaboration release between Moljebka Pulse and Horologium, inspired and devoted to the region where Europe and Asia meet and where ancestral grudges carry on to this day. Meditative drones and rumbling loops try to convey the majesty and richness of the region, but there are unfortunately no Azeri folk songs to be found here.

Nikita Golyshev - Solaris (Monochrome Vision)

Debut CD album from Nikita Golyshev, a Moscow artist also known for his many mp3 releases as CD-R. "Solaris" comes in the shape of two long deep ambient pieces with perpetually expanding drones and minimal melodic tones. These tracks were partially presented at the Add Noise II festival on May 15th, 2007.

Opion Somnium - As They Fly Into Darkness... (Drone Records)

A pleasant release from this New Mexico based project. Soaring waves of lush sounds from processed instruments such as pianos, accordions and violas. There's a certain post-rock, shoe-gazer mood to the whole thing.

Sister Loolomie / Polaris - Out of Space (Abgurd)

Sister Loolomie presents one long track of droning ambient built around digitally-filtered guitars melodies (think of a lo-fi Bad Sector colliding with French space noise band Moon), while Sudan Strain side-project Polaris goes for the soothing sounds of a low-frequency black hole absorbing solar winds.

Somnivore & Kivelä - Maelström (New Old Sentinel)

Free-form dark ambient from Finland that wouldn't be out of place on the Aural Hypnox roster, even if this does have slightly more industrial than purely ambient undertones.
The mid-range frequencies require a decent pair of headphones to be fully appreciated and the lack of track markers might initially put one off from sitting down for the full 47 minutes, but Maelström is a finely crafted piece of work that renews its sound palette regularly enough to keep your attention throughout its duration. A great pick for those late-night listening sessions.

Still - Remains (Public Guilt)

Dark ambient by Dälek's former turntablist (Hsi-Chang Lin), made exclusively with his Technics 1200's and an array of effects pedals. If Magwheels traded in his guitar for turntables, you'd get something not too dissimilar from the sort of melancholic swelling drones here.

Tarkatak - Eschgl Hel (Taalem)

Label info: "After many cd-r's (on various labels like Blade Records, Prion or Staalaplaat's sublabel Bake Records), even tapes in his first days and some 7"s (including one on Drone Records), Tarkatak offers with this 22min track a perfect example of his beautiful sound: droney dark ambient, slowly evolving with low rumblings, natural sounds and many details in the background... His past works have often been compared to some Zoviet France works or Andrew Chalk; we couldn't agree more."

(3" printed CD-R, $6.50, last copy)
