Agnivolok - Sculptor (Eastern Front)
Re-release of the debut LP originally out on StateArt, with an added exclusive track. Esoteric folk music by Vera Agnivolok, with contributions by Igor Krutogolov and Vadim Gusis (Chaos as Shelter).
(CD, digipak, out of stock)
Agnivolok - Cherries (Eastern Front)
Originally planned to be released a few years ago as "Cherries for the Golden Skull", this album has finally surfaced through the efforts of Israeli label The Eastern Front. As before, The band is singer Vera Agnivolok, Igor Krutogolov and Vadim Gusis (Chaos as Shelter), and "Cherries" further explores their combination of mournful folk music with uneasy ambient passages.

Ait! / Novy Svet / O Paradis / Totenlieder - Drinking to Better Days (Punch Records)
A great experimental neo-folk compilation that brings together some of the most (and few) lively and interesting bands in this field. Each of the four participating projects contributed two tracks to this 12" EP. The luxurious hand-made sleeve is covered in blue velvet on the outside and satin on the inside, and this release is limited to 410 hand-numbered copies.

Down in June - Covers... Death in June (Nerus)
15 Totenpop re-interpretations of classic Death in June tracks by this new Swedish band, including "Fall Apart", "Little Black Angel", "Fields of Rape", "Rose Clouds of the Holocaust" and many more. More imaginative than all of the copycats put together.
(CD, digisleeve, $16.00, last copy)

Grim - The Past Is Still In Current Use (Drag & Drop Industrial)
Grim is the project led by Jun Konagaya, co-founder of the early cult industrial duo White Hospital with Tomo Kuwahara, who went on to form the ritual ambient project Vasilisk. This compilation conveniently assembles all past Grim releases (Amaterasu 7", Folk Music LP and Message mLP) along with a track released as Howling of Himalaya on UPD's "Constructive Music 1990". The first two releases are great examples of early 80's industrial, with the perfect dosage of metal percussions, squalid electronics and shouted vocals. The "Message" mLP material takes a drastically different turn for eerie and clinically altered folk music. Required listening.
(CD, jewel case, $8.00)

Majdanek Waltz / Sal Solaris - Tenebrae (Zhelezobeton)
Having worked together on a split release on KultFront back in 2008, Majdanek Waltz and Sal Solaris are once again reunited but in the context of a collaboration this time. "Tenebrae" is inspired by the poetry of the German-language poet Paul Celan, and the combination of uneasy drones with the mournful sounds of the violin, cello and piano make for a fittingly bleak tribute to his tormented work and life.

Novy Svet / O Paradis - Destello de Estrellas en la Frente (Punch Records)
Beautiful follow-up to their collaboration CD released in 2003, with the same combination of acoustic Mediterranean folk music and electronic psychedelia that made it a success.
(CD, digipak, to be restocked soon)

O Paradis - La Boca Del Infernio (Punch Records)
"Hell's Mouth" stares at you on the cover of this new release from O Paradis, and the 10 tracks are a suitably infernal mix of seductive beauty and blackened ugliness. The gentle Mediterranean guitars are present as before, but dirtied by plaintive looped noises and a taste for the dissonant. Quite likely the most experimental work by O Paradis so far, one on which he bares himself in more ways than one.

O Paradis - Cuando el Tiempo Sopla (Punch Records)
A new album's worth of beautiful and melancholic tunes from Barcelona's O Paradis. The tone is sorrowful and nostalgic, with the passing of time serving as a constant theme throughout the album (I don't think I'm imagining those tick-tocking rhythms). Definitely a step away from the more upbeat collaborations with Novy Svet and even more unusual in some ways than "La Boca del Infierno" ("Desnuda" will certainly mess with you), this is another excellent release from O Paradis that's rightfully been released by Punch Records.
(CD, clear jewel case, to be restocked soon)
O Paradis - Las Nubes que Mueren (Punch Records)
2CD compilation of previously abandoned and unreleased tracks and demos from past recording sessions. While this sort of exercise usually gathers leftovers that prove only interesting to completists, O Paradis' level of work makes this collection a release that can definitely stand on its own merit.
(2CD, digipak, $18.50, on sale, last copy)
