Label info:"Barzel is a new power electronics project which brings us their views of Zionism as an aesthetic / political avant garde. the story of the heroic journey of the exiled and persecuted from the Diaspora to their ancient homeland. a story of strength and honor, based on the teaching of Ze'ev Jabotinsky, the poetry of Uri Zvi Grinberg and the historical events of the previous century."

Barzel - Born to Destroy Amalek (Topheth Prophet)
Second album from Barzel, fueled as always by the cause of militant Zionism. Whereas the first album felt like a historical overview of the topic (complete with sampled excerpts from documentaries and political speeches), "Born to Destroy Amalek" is much more aggressive, confrontational and personal, like stepping into the mind of a Hebron settler clutching his M-16. The emphasis on more ferocious vocals and heavy power electronics drives this point across, with samples of threats of violence becoming vengeful mantras. Beneath the Biblical references of the titles, the antagonism is real. This is the sound of unforgiving siege mentality, for those who can stomach it.
(CD, digisleeve, $13.00)

Cloama & Blutleuchte - From Wasteland Mausoleums (New Old Sentinel)
Stunning collaboration release between those two Finnish projects. Cloama's lurch towards more experimental sounds from its power electronics / noise beginnings is further emphasized by Die Blutleuchte's contributions, and this release effortlessly shifts from post-apocalyptic mantras to doom jazz dirges, with distorted guitar melodies and bleak atmospheres thrown in between. Scrapyard shamanism at its best. On a side-note, be sure to also look into Die Blutleuchte's "Rus", a sonic overview of Russian military history.
(CD, clear jewel case with UV-coated 8-page booklet, $15.50)

Control - Natural Selection (Eibon Records)
The new breed of power electronics. Relentless, crushing yet crafted noise from one of the genre's best projects.
(CD, slipcase, out of stock)
Deathpile - G.R. (Force of Nature / Hospital)
Based around the Green River killer, this release stands out from the pile of serial-killer-of-the-week power electronics CDs for one good reason: it carries a strong sense of narrative, as if you're a witness to the proceedings. As the context changes, so does the sound, evolving and shifting from walls of noise and confrontational (yet fully articulated) vocals to dense collages of assorted testimonies.
(CD, clear jewel-case, $12.00)

Drape Excrement / Söldnergeist - Black Rider (Steinklang)
Finally some new (or rather unpublished until now) material from Art Konkret residents Drape Excrement and Söldnergeist. This collaboration album seems to put the emphasis on the first project's dynamic type of death industrial, but with an added heavy electronics touch by Söldnergeist. Heads above most of their peers. Artwork by Fabrice Billard, who heads the Divine Comedy label.
(CD, jewel case, $18.50)

Long awaited third release from this cult project. Less confrontational and aggressive than "Children of God" but their most personal and emotional work so far. Strongly recommended.
