With multiples releases out on a wide variety of labels including Fleshmadeword, Mystery Sea, Public Eyesore, and upcoming ones on Dreamland Records and DTA, the creativity of Canadian musician and writer Aidan Baker cannot be easily summed up in a narrow-minded category for the sake of convenience.
"Dreammares" showcases the particularly organic and naturally flowing style of luminous ambient that could have previously been heard on "Pretending to be Fearless", with post-rock elements and processed guitars forging the foundations for the ample drones to cover in an oniric haze. From the disembodied voices floating in the cascading "pretending to be numb" to the otherworldly rhythmic section and tape loops of "mouches dans mes rêves", the building blocks of this album seem to have been culled from the mental world that comes to life at night, when the mind wanders freely in all its confusing glory.
